Hello Everyone!
Â
It's such an exciting time of year as the students are back on campus and we have already begun practicing. The guys as a whole look to have worked very hard over the summer and the first-year guys are very talented. Personally, I really enjoy seeing how the sophomores return in their second year. This is traditionally the time when they make their biggest jump in improvement during their four-year career. And, obviously, seeing the first-year guys on our campus, wearing orange and blue and getting after it in Christy is exhilarating for myself and the staff. The recruiting process is so long, and guys are committed to Bucknell for nearly two years before we get them on campus for real, so it's certainly gratifying.Â
Â
The Pascucci Team House at the Stadium is coming along very well thanks to everyone who has helped financially to make this project possible, and we are extremely excited about moving in sometime after spring break. The facility will include a new men's lacrosse locker room, a state-of-the-art weight room, a sports medicine room, a full-team video viewing film room, and other spaces. Everything you want to know about it is HERE.
 Â
Recruiting is going well. Today is the first day that we can reach out to rising juniors in high school. We saw about 10,000 kids play this summer. We will reach out to the top 300. After a few weeks, we intend to have that number narrowed down to about 50 recruits with our ultimate goal of bringing 12 of those guys to Bucknell to wear the Orange and Blue. We are all but finished with the 2024 recruiting class. We may be looking for one more guy next fall.
Â
We have a new third assistant position that was approved by the University late this summer. This is in response to a new NCAA rule that became effective allowing institutions to pay three assistant coaches in lacrosse - no more volunteer coach. We are currently interviewing for that position and should have someone on board in the next couple of weeks.
Â
We have been approved for a 45-man roster this year which will be the largest roster that we've been allowed to have since at least 1991 (my first year at Bucknell).
Â
I wanted to let you know that I will be making a road trip out to Westport, Connecticut on Thursday, Sept. 14 for an athletics reception. I would absolutely love to see you at this event if you live close by as it would be great to connect and catch up. A copy of the invite to the event, hosted by Ellie Williams ’92, P’22, ’24, is at the bottom of my correspondence. It contains instructions on how to register for the event if interested.
Â
Thanks for your continued support, and Go Bison!!
