Women's Tennis Opens 2026-27 Season with Bucknell Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis is opening its fall season by hosting the Bucknell Tournament on the Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday, Sep. 12 and Sunday, Sep. 13.
The Bison enter the fall season with eight returners and two freshmen. Seniors Tori Allen and Jaycie Mair are serving as the team captains for the 2026-27 season. Tammy Cecchini returns as the Bison head coach for her eighth season.
Bucknell will host IUP, Saint Francis, Slippery Rock and Franklin & Marshall College over the weekend in a hidden dual format. Play will begin at 9 a.m. on both days.
Saturday will see three rounds of doubles and three rounds of singles while Sunday will feature one doubles round and two singles rounds. The doubles rounds will consist of six games, no ad. The singles matches will be two sets, no ad and a 10 point tiebreaker for the third set.

Bucknell's Last Time Out: Women's Tennis Falls in Patriot League Quarterfinals to Army 4-0
- Bucknell women's tennis' 2025-26 season came to an end as Army defeated the Bison 4-0 in the Patriot League Quarterfinals.
- Bucknell ended the season 10-11 overall and 2-6 in Patriot League play.
- Army opened the match by earning the doubles points with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots as Ruckno and Mellynchuck defeated Jaycie Mair and Summer Even Esh 6-3 and Duong and Mathivanan defeated Cameron King and Natalie Devraj 6-3. The No. 1 doubles match went unfinished with Army's Brilliant and Smith leading 5-4 over Abby Platt and Riley Jennings.
- The Black Knights then took three straight singles matches to earn a 4-0 win and move on to the semifinals.
Bucknell at a Glance
- Bucknell Women's Tennis finished the 2026 competition season 10-11 overall and 2-6 in the Patriot League. The team ultimately fell in the Quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament to Army 4-0, ending their season.
- In 2026 Bucknell saw one student-athlete on the First Team All-Patriot League list – Abby Platt. She has since graduated.
- Heading into the 2026-27 season, the Bison will be looking for a new student-athlete to take over No. 1 singles and doubles as Platt has been their No. 1 player for the past few years. Bucknell also lost Mirra Manolov and will have to fill her spot in doubles play.
- Seniors Tori Allen and Jaycie Mair have been named captains for the 2026-27 season.
- Overall, Bucknell returned eight players from last season, despite losing two of their regulars in the lineup. Allen and Mair return as the senior class. Natalie Devraj, Riley Jennings and Cameron King return as the junior class and Mariana Shulman, Kate Purpura and Summer Even-Esh return as the sophomore class.
- The Bison welcomed a freshman class of two this fall; Jordan Lee and Isabella Massis.
