The Bucknell men's soccer team is back on the road after a four-game home stand, traveling to Boston University for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Nickerson Field on Monday.

After opening the season 0-4 for the first time since 1966, Bucknell went 3-0-1 during the home-stand. The Bison opened Patriot League play with a win over Lafayette and a draw with Colgate while winning non-conference games against George Mason and Saint Joseph's

Boston U. and Lehigh lead the Patriot League through two games with six points. Bucknell and American sit just behind them at four points, and Holy Cross has two points. Four teams have one point and Army has no points heading into the third set of Patriot League matches this weekend.

The Patriot League has struggled to get results in non-conference action as all teams have combined for a 10-33-21 record out of conference. Bucknell and Navy are the only teams with multiple non-conference wins.

Boston U. is 3-2-3 on the season with a 2-0 start in the Patriot League. The Terriers opened conference play with a 4-0 win over Army before a 2-0 win over Navy. Both the Bison and Terries have not conceded yet in conference play.

Bucknell and Boston U. collected all five Patriot League weekly awards. Bucknell's Collin Sullivan was the defender of the week while Boston U. collected the other four awards. Andrea Di Blasio was the Forward of the Week, Dylan Williams was the Midfielder of the Week, Ben Alexander was the Goalkeeper of the Week and Guillem Vila Ametller was the Rookie of the Week.

Last Time Out for the Bison

After conceding an early goal, Drew Roskos and Mason Lillis scored just minutes later to help the Bison to a 2-1 win over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday night at Emmitt Field. All three goals in the match were scored in the first 15 minutes of the match as the Bison held strong defensively for the final 75 minutes.
Bucknell's two goals came against Alex Smith, who came into the match with an .867 save percentage and just four goals conceded through seven matches. The two goals were also Bucknell's first first-half goals of the season.
In the eighth minute, Mason Csapo intercepted a pass from the Bison back line. The midfielder sent Eddie Krupski through on goal and the forward tucked away an easy finish for a 1-0 lead.
The early goal did not sway the Bison as they came right back down the field to score just 65 seconds later. Noah Handzel worked his way down the wing and played a pass back to Kasper Piela in support. Piela sent in a brilliant cross that found the head of Roskos. Roskos won the header over a taller defender, propping the ball up to himself for an easy finish to draw the Bison level 1-1.
Five minutes later, Roskos won a fifty-fifty ball and slotted a pass through to Hamish Riddell. The freshman wing back darted down the wing and into the box. He played a perfect pass into the box that found Lillis who found the back of the net with a strong finish in a crowd of defenders.
SJU had two big chances in the final five minutes. The Hawks had a great spell of possession in the final 10 minutes, and Nick Hanushchak nearly capped it off with a goal if not for Thomas Yerbury's third save of the match. Hanushchak fired his shot to the near post, and Yerbury got big to deny the chance.
Yerbury came up big once again in the final moments of the match as the Hawks fired a shot with seconds remaining. The Hawks pushed forward and picked out a pass to the team's leading goal scorer Conor Clair. Clair hit his shot from 25 yards out, but Yerbury did well to make a stop on a short-hop and keep the ball within arm's reach to see out the match.
The Hawks had 20 shots in the match with five shots on goal while the Bison had 11 shots with seven on target. Yerbury made four saves in the match while Smith had five for the Hawks.
Roskos and Lillis each scored their first goal of the season. After an early season injury to Bucknell's leading goal scorer in 2025, Roskos is back on the scoresheet for the first time in 2026 with a goal and an assist. Lillis' goal was the second of his career.

Bucknell at a Glance

Bucknell has played a fierce non-conference schedule early in the season. The Bison fell to three strong opponents in Hofstra, Pitt and Old Dominion, all of whom have spent time in the polls. Old Dominion is 8-1 and ranks 15th in the latest polls, and Pitt is 5-2-1 and ranks 20th. Hoftsra is receiving votes in the latest polls.
Bucknell is getting healthy again after missing key players through the first three matches. Lucas, Roskos and Bejarano played their first action of the season against ODU after all three of them missed the first three matches. Jakub Samelko also returned to the squad against Fordham. Roskos, Lucas and Samelko combined for 16 goals and four assists in 2025.
The Bison struggled to find goals early in the season with three goals in the first five matches, but the Bison found a breakthrough with three goals against George Mason. Bucknell's goals against SJU were the first first-half goals of the season for the Bison.
After leading the league in 2025 in shots and shots on target, Bucknell currently ranks fifth in each category. The Bison totaled 26 shots through the first four games, but have tallied 48 shots in the last four matches. The Bison also struggled to get shots on target, but fired seven on goal in the win over SJU.
Bucknell's two leading goal scorers from 2025, Drew Roskos and Jack Lucas, each have a goal since their return. Junior Cade Whitmire and senior Mason Lillis each have a goal. Freshmen Chayse Snyder, Hamish Riddell and Viktor Permyashkin also have one goal each.
Riddell and Roskos lead the team with three points on a goal and an assist.
Junior forward Drew Roskos is the reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, and he was voted as the 2026 Patriot League Preseason Forward of the Year. Senior Jack Lucas was voted as the Patriot League Preseason Defender of the Year.
Colin Findlay and Viktor Permyashkin are both from central Pennsylvania. Permyashkin is a Lewisburg native, and becomes the first Lewisburg graduate to play for Bucknell. Findlay is from Selinsgrove, just 20 minutes south of Lewisburg. Findlay's mother, Chrissy, is a former Bucknell women's soccer coach, and his father, Jim, served as the head coach at Susquehanna University for 28 years. Chayse Snyder is from Mechanicsburg, just 90 minutes from Lewisburg.
Bucknell has 19 returning players on the 2025 squad. Bucknell's freshman class includes six players: Hamish Riddell, Max Walsh, Marcelo Ojeda, Viktor Permyashkin, Chayse Snyder and Grant Brokaw. The Bison also brought in junior transfers, Colin Findlay and Jack Bejarano.
Dave Brandt is Bucknell's 14th full-time head coach and just the third dating back to 1967. Brandt, who is now in his fifth season at Bucknell, has a remarkable career record of 377-123-56 in stints at Bucknell, Messiah, Navy, and Hope. Brandt won six Division III national championships at Messiah and led Navy to the 2013 Patriot League title and an NCAA Tournament first-round win.

Bucknell in 2025

Bucknell got off to a hot start in 2025, but struggled to get results in conference play down the final stretch of the season. The Bison ultimately fell to Boston U. on the road 3-1 in the first round of the Patriot League tournament.
Bucknell had a knack for comebacks last season as the Bison went 4-3-1 in matches they had trailed in during the regular season.
The Bison also scored in the final 16 minutes in eight of its 18 matches, and they scored a goal in the final five minutes in five matches.
Bucknell senior class in 2025 combined for eight goals and seven assists last season.
The Bison ranked third in the Patriot League with 29 goals for and ranked second with 1.611 goals per game.
The Bison also led the league with 232 shots and 6.33 shots on target per game.
Defensively, the Bison ranked third in the league with eight clean sheets, and seven of those clean sheets came in Patriot League action.
Jackson Sullivan, the older brother of Collin, was named the 2025 Patriot League Defender of the Year.
Drew Roskos, now a junior, was named the 2025 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Season.

Boston U. at a Glance

Boston U. is 3-2-3 in 2026 with a 2-0 record in the Patriot League. The Terriers were 0-2-3 through five games against tough competition, but have won each of their last three matches.
The Terriers have played well against strong opponents, earning draws against Vermont, Providence and New Hampshire.
Boston U. went 10-8 in 2025 with a 5-4 record in the Patriot League. The Terries beat the Bison 3-1 in the first round of the Patriot League tournament before falling to Lehigh in the semifinal round.
The Terriers lead the Patriot League in both goals for (10) and goals against (5). The Terriers are averaging 5.88 shots on target per game.
Andrea Di Blasio has four goals and ranks second in the league in goals scored. He scored five goals and had an assist in 2025.
Lapo Romieri and Dylan Williams have a goal and three assists, and both are tied for the lead-league in assists. Pharis Patrica has one goal and two assists.
Keke Abai and Anthony Harper each have a goal and an assist, and Ryan Ghajar has one goal.
Ben Alexander has played every minute in goal with a 0.62 GAA and an .857 save percentage. He's made 30 saves and conceded just five goals in eight matches.

History/Facts

Boston U. leads the series 5-3-6 against the Bison dating back to 2013. The Bison did not lose to the Terriers in the first seven matches of their history, but Boston U. has won each of the last five matchups. Bucknell's last win over the Terriers came in 2019 in a 3-0 victory.
Bucknell and Boston U. met up twice last season, and the Terriers won both games including a 3-1 win in the first round of the Patriot League tournament.
Jack Lucas scored in a 3-2 loss at home during the regular season, and Drew Roskos scored in the 3-1 loss on the road.
