Men's Water Polo Posts 2-0 Sunday at the Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell (6-6, 1-1 MAWPC) reached .500 for the first time in 2026 on Sunday with two dominant wins. The Bison defeated Wagner 19-14 in conference action and dismantled LIU 17-9.

It was a chippy game with a combined 36 exclusions, 27 of which were assigned to Wagner. Bucknell seized advantage of that deficit and repeatedly found the goal while a man up.

Pier Giorgio Cicchetti, the sensational rookie, led Bucknell with five goals. Four other players each tallied three times.

Bucknell never trailed in the contest, bolting to a 3-0 lead and maintaining comfortable spacing for most of the game.

Minor danger arrived in the second quarter. Seahawks, on four occasions, cut the deficit to one goal, 7-6, 8-7, 9-8, and 10-9. Each time, Bucknell answered the call and responded with a tally before running up a 12-9 halftime lead.

The Bison extended its lead to 15-10 after halftime. Wagner scored once before Bucknell built up an 18-11 lead and coasted to the 19-14 win.

Bucknell kept the momentum from the morning game rolling into the afternoon with another strong performance.

Tyler Hedblad scored four goals - all in the first half - to spearhead the Bison attack.

LIU stuck close to the Bison for a quarter, only trailing 3-2 after the opening stanza.

Bucknell generated some breathing room by halftime to lead 8-5.

The Orange & Blue defense clamped down on the Sharks, holding LIU to four second half goals. Bucknell's offense grinded and fought its way to nine tallies for the 17-9 victory.
