Men's Soccer Hosts Colgate on Saturday Night for Patriot League Action

The Bucknell men's soccer team continues a four-game home streak with Colgate coming to Lewisburg for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Emmitt Field on Saturday night.

After opening the season 0-4 for the first time since 1966, Bucknell has won each of its last two matches against Lafayette and George Mason. After 87 minutes of a scoreless deadlock, Jack Lucas converted a late penalty to help the Bison start 1-0 in the Patriot League.

The Bison then stormed back from a 1-0 deficit against George Mason with three second-half goals to beat the Patriots 3-1 on Tuesday night. Before Bucknell's goal late in the game against Lafayette, the Bison had previously gone nearly 300 minutes without a goal.

Colgate is 1-5-2 to begin the season and 0-1 in the Patriot League. The Raiders are coming off of a 3-0 loss to Syracuse on Tuesday and fell 1-0 to American last weekend. Colgate won its season-opener against New Hampshire, but have not won a game since.

The Patriot League has struggled to get results in non-conference action as all teams have combined for a 7-32-20 record out of conference. Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Lafayette and Loyola (Md.) all have one win, and Navy is the only program with two non-conference wins.

Last Time Out for the Bison

Freshmen Hamish Riddell and Viktor Permyashkin scored their first career goals as Bucknell turned in three in the second half to defeat George Mason 3-1 on Tuesday night at Emmitt Field.
Bucknell trailed 1-0 after a dominant first half by George Mason, but the tables turned as the Bison dominated the second 45 minutes with three goals to show for their effort.
Riddell helped the Bison equalize through an own goal in the 57th minute of action. Riddell then gave the Bison the lead just minutes later with a stunning strike from outside the box.
Permyashkin doubled the advantage in the 86th minute on another big strike from the top of the box. The Lewisburg native dribbled into space, and fired his shot into the bottom left corner.
Bucknell managed just two shots off target in the first half as George Mason dominated possession. The Patriots had seven shots in the first 45 minutes with three shots on target. Thomas Yerbury made both of his two saves in the half, but the Patriots found the breakthrough from Gabin Thomelier.
Bucknell controlled the second half with the better of opportunities along with some great defensive saves to hold the lead.
The first good opportunity resulted in the own goal to level the score 1-1. A defensive error gave Chayse Snyder the ball with a defender to beat, and he slid his pass to Riddell on the left side of the 18. Riddell pulled his shot just wide, but a defender put it into their own net on a failed clearance attempt.
Riddell was a pain for the Patriots defense, and he rode the momentum right to his first goal just minutes later. Riddell received the ball on the wing and beat two defenders as his dribbled to the middle of the field. He found space for the shot and smashed a curling effort into the top-right corner to put the Bison in front 2-1.
The Bison held onto the lead for the next 25 minutes until Permyashkin's goal to seal the deal. George Mason had a great opportunity to equalize 2-2, but the score remained 2-1 thanks to a heroic effort by Collin Sullivan. Martim Sereno beat Yerbury with his shot, but Sullivan scrambled back to the goal line to head the shot over the crossbar.
Bucknell continued to wreak havoc with their press late in the half and they were rewarded with Permyashkin's goal to double the lead. Freshmen Max Walsh and Grant Brokaw worked hard to dispossess the Patriots, and Selinsgrove native Colin Findlay got a final touch to send Permyashkin through on goal to make it 3-1.

Bucknell at a Glance

Bucknell has played a fierce non-conference schedule early in the season. The Bison fell to two strong opponents in Hofstra and Old Dominion. Old Dominion ranks 13th in the latest polls, and Hofstra is receiving votes. The Bison also played Pitt who is 4-2-1 this season.
Bucknell is getting healthy again after missing key players through the first three matches. Lucas, Roskos and Bejarano played their first action of the season against ODU after all three of them missed the first three matches. Jakub Samelko also returned to the squad against Fordham. Roskos, Lucas and Samelko combined for 16 goals and four assists in 2025.
The Bison struggled to find goals early in the season with three goals in the first five matches, but the Bison found a breakthrough with three goals against George Mason. The Bison have yet to score in the first half of a game this season.
After leading the league in 2025 in shots and shots on target, Bucknell currently ranks seventh in each category. The Bison totaled 26 shots through the first four games, but have tallied 28 shots in the last two matches. Despite a higher number of shots recently, the Bison have still managed just six shots on target in those two matches.
Cade Whitmire and Jack Lucas have each scored a goal, and Bucknell's other three goal scorers are freshmen Chayse Snyder, Hamish Riddell and Viktor Permyashkin.
Junior forward Drew Roskos is the reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, and he was voted as the 2026 Patriot League Preseason Forward of the Year. Senior Jack Lucas was voted as the Patriot League Preseason Defender of the Year.
Colin Findlay and Viktor Permyashkin are both from central Pennsylvania. Permyashkin is a Lewisburg native, and becomes the first Lewisburg graduate to play for Bucknell. Findlay is from Selinsgrove, just 20 minutes south of Lewisburg. Findlay's mother, Chrissy, is a former Bucknell women's soccer coach, and his father, Jim, served as the head coach at Susquehanna University for 28 years. Chayse Snyder is from Mechanicsburg, just 90 minutes from Lewisburg.
Bucknell has 19 returning players on the 2025 squad. Bucknell's freshman class includes six players: Hamish Riddell, Max Walsh, Marcelo Ojeda, Viktor Permyashkin, Chayse Snyder and Grant Brokaw. The Bison also brought in junior transfers, Colin Findlay and Jack Bejarano.
Dave Brandt is Bucknell's 14th full-time head coach and just the third dating back to 1967. Brandt, who is now in his fifth season at Bucknell, has a remarkable career record of 377-123-56 in stints at Bucknell, Messiah, Navy, and Hope. Brandt won six Division III national championships at Messiah and led Navy to the 2013 Patriot League title and an NCAA Tournament first-round win.

Bucknell in 2025

Bucknell got off to a hot start in 2025, but struggled to get results in conference play down the final stretch of the season. The Bison ultimately fell to Boston U. on the road 3-1 in the first round of the Patriot League tournament.
Bucknell had a knack for comebacks last season as the Bison went 4-3-1 in matches they had trailed in during the regular season.
The Bison also scored in the final 16 minutes in eight of its 18 matches, and they scored a goal in the final five minutes in five matches.
Bucknell senior class in 2025 combined for eight goals and seven assists last season.
The Bison ranked third in the Patriot League with 29 goals for and ranked second with 1.611 goals per game.
The Bison also led the league with 232 shots and 6.33 shots on target per game.
Defensively, the Bison ranked third in the league with eight clean sheets, and seven of those clean sheets came in Patriot League action.
Jackson Sullivan, the older brother of Collin, was named the 2025 Patriot League Defender of the Year.
Drew Roskos, now a junior, was named the 2025 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Season.

Colgate at a Glance

Colgate enters the contest with a 1-5-2 record and an 0-1 record in the Patriot League. The Raiders lone win came in the season-opener in a 1-0 victory over New Hampshire.
Colgate has also struggled to score goals thus far with four goals in eight matches. The Raiders have conceded 15 goals, which is the most in the Patriot League.
Ryan Schachter leads the Raiders with three points on one goal and one assist. He has already matched his 2025 totals for the season.
Cole Ramey has one goal, and he led the Raiders in 2025 with seven points on three goals and one assist.
Lucas Schachter, the younger brother of Ryan, also has a goal. The freshman has played just 47 minutes this season.
Charlie Yates has a goal, and Otto Bourne and Connor Cates each have an assist.
Chirstian Kellogg has six starts in goal for the Raiders conceding 11 goals with 32 saves. He has a .744 save percentage in goal.
Gavin Vichengrad has played in three games with two starts conceding four goals. He has 16 saves and an .800 save percentage.

History/Facts

Colgate has a firm grip on the series record, leading 30-13-11 against the Bison. The Bison, however, are 3-1-2 in the previous six matches.
In 2025, the two teams played to a 0-0 draw in Hamilton, New York.
Colgate won the very first matchup 3-0 in 1963.
