• Bucknell hits the road again for two crucial EIWA duals against Drexel and Navy. Both opponents are receiving votes in the latest poll and will be a good barometer for the Bison. .Â
• 60% of the Orange & Blue lineup remained ranked by Intermat in their latest edition. Noah Mulvaney (165) and Myles Takats (174) are tied for the highest at #21. Dillon Bechtold (197), Dylan Chappell (141), and Tyler Bienus (184) hold steady at #27, #30, and #31 respectively. Lucas Lawler (285) slipped from #29 to #30.Â
• Dylan Chappell (141) entered 2025-26 with 88 career wins and the fifth-year senior has won 16 matches this season. Chappell became the first Bison grappler to reach the 100-win milestone since Kurt Phipps (133) earned number 100 against No. 16 Anthony Noto (Lock Haven) on Jan. 30, 2025. He is two wins away from tying for 11th in program history.Â
• Bucknell posted its third straight top 25 recruiting class, providing an even greater pool of talent for the program. The depth has been on display with the Bison taking nearly every ranked foe to the bitter end, routing Hofstra, LIU, and Morgan State, and performing well at the Navy Classic. At the Midlands Championships, the team finished third for its highest finish in program history at the competition.Â
• The Bison have needed every drop of depth with injuries preventing the full lineup from competing together more than once.Â
• The first NCAA Top 33 Coaches Ranking were released on Jan. 29 and five Bison received designations: Myles Takats (174) #16; Lucas Lawler (285) #22; Noah Mulvaney (165) #23; Dillon Bechtold (197) #25; Dylan Chappell (141) #30. The next rendition of the rankings will be released on Feb. 12.Â
• Despite its W-L record, Bucknell sits at 79-61 in matches during duals and has outscored opponents 308-215.Â
• Noah Mulvaney (165) is 19-4 in matches and a sparkling 13-1 in duals this season.
• Head coach Dan Wirnsberger is in his 21th year leading the program since its revival in 2005.Â
A Look Back at the Lock Haven Dual
• Lock Haven raced to the early advantage, held a decisive lead for the most of the dual, withstood a late Bison charge, and won the winner-take-all bout to take home the 26th Susquehanna Showdown on Jan. 29.Â
• The Bald Eagles won four of the first five matches to build a 13-3 lead.Â
• No. 30 Dylan Chappell (141) unlocked the only Bison win during the stretch with a 10-7 victory over No. 18 Wyatt Henson.Â
• No. 21 Noah Mulvaney (165) closed the gap to 13-8 with a 15-0 technical fall.Â
• Lock Haven rebounded with a massive win in the 174-pound bout when No. 32 Avery Bassett defeated No. 18 Myles Takats in a decision.Â
• Bucknell made its late push with a decision from No. 31 Tyler Bienus (184) and a major decision from No. 27 Dillon Bechtold (197).Â
• With the score hanging at 16-15 LHU, the heavyweight clash would be the deciding match. No. 29 Lucas Lawler and Kade Sottolano battled into sudden victory where the Bald Eagle grabbed Lawler for the takedown. Lawler fell to 0-5 in winner-take-all bouts.
