Purpura and Even-Esh Earn First Collegiate Points in 7-0 Win over Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Bucknell women's tennis defeated Merrimack 7-0 on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Bison move to 5-4 overall with the victory.
Freshmen Kate Purpura and Summer Even-Esh both won their first collegiate points in their singles victories. Purpura defeated Stadler in the No. 6 spot 6-4, 7-5 and Even-Esh won her match in the No. 4 spot over Senanu in comeback fashion 6-7 (4), 6-0, 10-5.
The Bison opened the day by taking all three doubles matches and then followed that up by sweeping the singles matches to earn a 7-0 win. Mirra Manolov clinched the victory with her 6-3, 6-3 win over Phillips at the No. 2 spot.
Bucknell returns to the courts on Friday, Feb. 27 as they take on conference opponent Army at home. The match starts at 1 p.m.
