Lombardi, Krug Break School Records; Bison Remain in Fifth Heading Into Final Day

RESULTS
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – James Lombardi and Jack Krug both broke school records on day three of the Patriot League Championships on Friday at Lejeune Hall as the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team sits in fifth place heading into the final day. The Bison set nine new top-10 times on the day.Â
Krug broke a 21-year-old record in the preliminaries in the morning session with a 321.30 in the one-meter dive. The record was previously owned by Adam Freeman with a score of 318.15 back in 2005.
Lombardi broke Chadd Cummings' 100 breaststroke record of 54.12 that he set back in 2019. Lombardi beat the time by one-hundredth of a second, swimming a time of 54.11 to win the B-Final. Lombardi had inched toward the record with a time 54.23 in the preliminaries.
Bucknell is in fifth place at 590 points after the third day of the championships comfortably ahead of Lehigh at 374 points. Navy (1,220) has a solid grip on the championship followed by Army (883), Boston U. (720) and Loyola (681).
The night opened with the 100 butterfly, and Finn Russell was Bucknell's top point-scorer in the event collecting 11 points in the B-Final with a time of 48.98. Damian Czartoryjski won the C-Final with a time of 49.01 to take 10 points.
In the 400 individual medley, Jason Kellerman and Shane Wynne took first and third in the B-Final as both swimmers set new top-10 times. Kellerman won the B-Final with a time of 3:52.49 which is good for the sixth-fastest swim in school history in the event. Wynne's time of 3:54.95 is the tenth-fastest swim.
Riley Twiss (3:58.40) and Alex Crossing (4:01.19) also competed in the B-Final of the 400 IM, and the four Bison combined to take 61 points from the event.
Czartoryjski had a great swim in the C-Final of the 200 freestyle to earn 10 points, and his time would have won the B-Final. The sophomore won the final by nearly two seconds, and his time of 1:37.89 ranks fifth in school history. Colin Smith (1:39.74) took third in the C-Final, and Dante Buonadonna (1:39.38) collected 12 points in the B-Final.
Evan Hepburn and Matt Raudabaugh also competed in B-Final of the 100 breaststroke. Hepburn swam of time of 54.68 that now ranks fifth on the top-10 lists as he collected 15 points. Raudabaugh earned 12 points as the senior swam a time of 55.71.
After setting the fifth-fastest time in the 100 back (49.14) on the first leg of the medley relay last night, Drew Davis bettered his time in the event with a 48.74 in the B-Final to collect 17 points for the Bison. His time is good for fourth and he is just one second off of the school record in his freshman season.
Caleb Hagadorn (49.59) earned 14 points in the B-Final, and his time of 49.38 from the morning session is now the eight-fastest time in school history.
Krug placed seventh with a score of 299.80 in the one-meter dive A-Final to take 23 points. Jackson Vinarub (275.95) and Connor Thurston (267.75) scored in the B-Final.
Smith, Russell, Kellerman and Drew Greene took sixth in the 200 freestyle relay to cap off the night with 48 points. Their time of 1:20.85 ranks fifth in school history.Â
The Bison go again tomorrow for one final day at Lejeune Hall. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. and end with finals at 6 p.m.
