Bucknell Hosts Bison Tuneup Tomorrow

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell track & field teams complete the regular indoor season tomorrow at the Bison Tuneup. Bucknell looks to iron out its roster for the upcoming Patriot League Indoor Championships.Â

- Bucknell completes its final regular season indoor meet at the Bison Tuneup.
- The participating teams are Bloomsburg, Bucknell, Dickinson, East Stroudsburg, Lafayette, Lehigh, Shippensburg, Susquehanna, and York
- The event begins at 5 p.m.
- The Bucknell men's team had a number of significant showings at the Penn Classic.Â
- Wade Shomper set the school record in the shot put to headline Bucknell's efforts at the Penn Classic. The Bison thrower reset his school record again, as part of his second place finish in the event. Shomper delivered a historic effort against a deep field of shot put throwers. His school record mark of 58-7.25 arrived during his second attempt and broke his previous standard of 57-8.25. All four of his countable marks cleared 53 feet and three of them were higher than 56. He received Bison of the Week for his record-breaking.Â
- Michael Chernova finished third in the pole vault, clearing 15-9. He moved into a seven-way tie for eighth place in Bucknell history.Â
- The throws group supplied another high finish with Aiden Tacker placing third in the weight throw. The Bison thrower tossed the instrument 59-4 in his fourth attempt.Â
- Luke Petryna made Bucknell history in the 200-meter dash. The Bison sprinter raced 21.85, finishing 13th in the event, but eighth in Bucknell history.Â
- The women's team performed well at the Penn Classic, recording every strong results.Â
- Madison Fowler continued her impressive run of elite throwing with a third-place finish in the weight throw. The Bison sophomore threw 59-5.50 in her fifth attempt. The distance surpassed the old meet record of 55-10.5 set last year by Bucknell thrower Christine Ajao.
- Alexandra Lea placed fourth in the highly competitive 400-meter dash invitational, logging 54.81. The time reset her third place slot in Bucknell's record book from her previous speed of 54.91. She now ranks second place in the Patriot League and tenth in the Mid-Atlantic region.Â
- Shaelan McNally earned seventh in the mile run invitational but accomplished an even greater prize. Her time of 4:49.32 moved her into second place at Bucknell, only trailing the legendary Christine Bendzinski.Â
- Piper Portacio finished 27th in the 200-meter dash but her time of 25.26 improved upon her tenth-best mark in Bucknell history.Â
