Women's Basketball Opens Road Week with Wednesday Game at American

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's basketball is back on the road for a mid-week game against American in Bender Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. The Bison enter the match on a two-game losing streak and the Eagles enter on a four-game losing streak
Bucknell is currently leading the series with American 31-28 and are on a five game winning streak with the Eagles last winning coming in early 2024. Earlier this season, Bucknell defeated American 58-45 in Sojka Pavilion. This will be the 60th meeting between the two teams since they first faced off in 1983.

- In addition to Woodruff and returning assistant coaches Edward Joyner Jr. and Shelby Case, the Bison had two new additions to their coaching staff in the off-season. Lauren Holden joined the Bison as the associate head coach and Danielle Patterson joined Bucknell as an assistant coach.

- The Eagles come into the game 6-19 overall and 4-10 in the Patriot League coming off of a four-game losing streak.
- American's four conference wins came over Colgate (twice), Lafayette and Boston U.
- In their last time out, the Eagles fell to Army 86-56. Anna Rescifina finished the afternoon on top for American with 10 points on the outing, the senior guard was the only Eagle in double digits.Molly Driscoll capped out with nine points on the afternoon while Laura Nogues had eight points, along with a team-leading four assists and two steals. American relied more on bench points than it has for much of the season, scoring 30 from nonstarters. The Eagles did well down low, earning 32 points in the paint to Army's 36. Army scored 27 off 19 AU turnovers and had 14 second-chance points.
- Molly Driscoll leads the Eagles in scoring with 12.5 points per game. She also leads the team in steals with 1.2 per game.
- Charlotte Tuhy leads American in rebounds per game with 10.6 per game.
- Lexi Salazar leads AU in assists with 2.6 per game.
Bucknell's Last Time Out
- Despite taking a lead at the end of the first half, Bucknell women's basketball (9-26, 5-9 PL) ultimately fell to Boston University (8-17, 4-10) 68-54 on Valentines Day in Sojka Pavilion.
- The first quarter went heavy in Boston's direction as it opened 9-0 and out-scored Bucknell 21-16 overall. The second quarter was all Bison as they out-scored the Terriers 16-7 to take their first lead of the game going into halftime thanks to three three-pointers from Reese Zemitis. The third quarter stayed close, but Boston utilized an early 12-0 run to edge out Bucknell in scoring and maintain a three-point lead. The Terriers secured the win in the fourth quarter by out-scoring the Bison 20-9 to close out the game.
- Reese Zemitis led Bucknell in scoring with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and four-of-nine shooting from three. Two other bison notched double-digit scoring as Mariah Hardy ended with 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and four-of-six shooting from the free-throw line and Tuana Coskun found 10 points and shot 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
- Desirae Ashton and Hardy led Bucknell in rebounds with six apiece and Zemitis followed closely with five. Five of Hardy's six rebounds were offensive for the Bison. Coskun led the team in assists with five of Bucknell's seven.
- The Terriers out-shot Bucknell in each category on the afternoon. Boston shot 53.3 percent from the field compared to Bucknell's 32.7 percent. From three, Boston went 8-of-20 while Bucknell went 6-of-28. The Terriers shot impressively from the free-throw line going 12-for-14 while the Bison went 14-of-19.
- The Terriers out-paced the Bison in rebounds 31-27, but Bucknell recorded more offensive boards as they got 13 to Boston's seven. Both teams were even in turnovers with 10 and steals with five.
