LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Charlie Barrickman earned his second Patriot League Golfer of the Week honor of the young season after leading the Bison men's squad to the team title at Binghamton's Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational.
Barrickman has taken a liking to Central New York golf courses. He won at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial in his collegiate debut, and this week he placed third in a field of 87 players at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Barrickman opened with a season-best, 4-under-par 68 on Sunday, then followed it up with a 74 in cool, windy conditions in Monday's final round. His 36-hole total of 2-under 142 was good for third place, just three shots off the lead.
The West Chester, Pa., native is off to a terrific start to his career. He has broken par in four of his eight rounds thus far, and he leads the team with 26 birdies and a 71.8 scoring average.
Now the Bison will look to build on their first tournament title in five seasons when they host the Bucknell Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs Sunday through Tuesday at the Bucknell Golf Club.
