Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bucknell men's soccer team fell to American 2-0 on the road at Reeves Field on Saturday afternoon.

Bucknell had the better of opportunities in the match, out-shooting American 9-7 and 5-3 in shots on target. American goalkeeper Evan Tubbs made five saves in the match including four in the first half.

The Eagles scored late in the first half against the run of play to find the match's opening goal. American won a corner in the 40th minute of action, and Moad Ezzahir stuck his foot in the mix of a big scramble in front of goal to bury the opportunity.

American struck again early in the second half with a 59th minute by Reyes Parra goal to double the lead. The Eagles put on a threatening counter attack, and Finn O'Brien played a perfect ball across the box to Parra who had an easy finish. O'Brien also assisted the Eagles' opening goal.

Bucknell had four shots on target in the first half, and Jack Lucas hit the cross bar. Off of a Bison corner just 11 minutes in, Lucas collected the scraps outside the box volleying a 25-yard shot that hit the crossbar and out of play.

Five minutes later, Drew Roskos nearly put the Bison in front. Nate Coughlin beat his defender out on the wing and played a great pass to Roskos, but Tubbs made a great save with his feet to keep the match scoreless. Lucas had another shot that forced a good save from Tubbs in the 22nd minute.

American possessed the ball well in the second half, and the Bison did not see many great opportunities to score over the final 45 minutes of play.

Bucknell begins a four-match home stand beginning on Tuesday as Mount St. Mary's comes to town for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Emmitt Field.
