BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Bucknell women's cross country faced a challenging field of Power Four foes and regional powerhouses on Friday morning at the annual Paul Short Run. The Bison women, despite missing their top two runners, handled themselves with exquisite skill on the 6k course, placing 14th out of 37 teams. Three Orange & Blue harriers slotted inside the top 100.Â

"I was very pleased with our women's race," head coach Kevin Donner said. "We were missing two of our best runners and we had some others really step up. We were hoping for a top 15 team finish. We were 14th and beat some teams who beat us at Penn State three weeks ago. We will likely move up a few spots in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings. We had a few women struggle a bit with the heat, but overall, it was a solid effort with room for improvement."
For the second consecutive meet, junior captain Katie Moncavage stepped up and filled the void left by Shaelan McNally and Kailey Granger's absences. She paced the Bison effort, placing 50th in 21:38.2. The captain picked up 19 spots in the final kick.Â
Kerry O'Day, for the second straight race, was Bucknell's second-best runner. The junior slotted 73rd, clocking 21:52.9. O'Day peaked at 59th at the two-mile mark before slightly falling back.Â
Bradley Weldon enjoyed another successful outing. The senior runner placed 83rd, recording a time of 21:57.7. Weldon rallied in the final stretch after slipping back during the middle stages.Â
Laura Posh placed 103rd and steadily improved her position throughout the race. The senior harrier ran 22:11.6. Posh sat 145th after the first mile but found another gear and nearly cracked the top 100.Â
Madeline Kerr rounded out the Bison scorers, finishing 114th. The sophomore logged 22:17.1. Like Posh, Kerr kept improving her standing throughout the race. She slotted 140th after the first mile before making her move.Â
