BETHPAGE, N.Y.- 250 years ago, Patriots and Redcoats clashed in Nassau County for the fate of unborn millions. On Saturday, cross country raced for slightly lesser stakes, but the harriers ran a 6k in the footsteps of their ancestors and channeled some of that Revolutionary fervor. Bucknell women, despite hamstrung by injuries, eked out an sixth place finish in a difficult and crowded field.Â

"Our women ran with a lot of confidence and they seem to be improving each week," head coach Kevin Donner said. "We beat a couple of teams that beat us at the Paul Short Run a couple of weeks ago. We are looking forward to hosting the Patriot League Championships in two weeks."
Katie Moncavage, for the third consecutive race, paced Bucknell, finishing 18th, by logging a personal best time of 21:03.4. The Bison captain has stepped up in the absence of frontline runners, Kailey Granger and Shaelan McNally, and firmly cemented herself as one of the Orange & Blue's best harriers. Moncavage moved up 14 spots in the final 1.9k to crack the top 20.Â
Katrina Torelli and Bradley Weldon were nearly conjoined twins by finishing 34th and 35th. Torelli edged her teammate by 0.01 seconds with her 21.15.7 just scratching past Weldon's 21.15.8. Her time was a product of a late kick where she moved up 19 spots in the final 1.9k. Torelli has mostly transitioned to a middle distance runner but remains a potent option for the cross country squad. Her time is even more impressive considering she ran 22.59.3 in the 6k at the Paul Short Run two weeks ago.Â
Weldon has continued her impressive growth and shaved over a minute from her 6k time at last month's Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. The Bison senior launched herself nine spots in the final kick.Â
Kerry O'Day finished 48th on a time of 21:27.4. O'Day was in the mid-30 before slipping 13 spots in the last 1.9k. However, 21:27.4 represents a personal best for the Bison junior.Â
Madeline Kerr rounded out the Bucknell scorers. The sophomore blasted up 18 spots in the final 1.9k to finish 50th. She clocked 21:29.2, a personal best time by over 42 seconds. Kerr has positioned herself well for the league roster.
Of special note for Bucknell fans, McNally made her season debut. The Bison junior, who finished second at the 2025 Patriot League Championships, finished 87th, logging 21:51.2, a strong showing for the recovering runner.Â
The Bison open the Bucknell Open on Oct. 23 as the final race before the Patriot League Championships on Halloween.Â
