LEWISBURG, Pa.- Sarah Althouse has been Bucknell's bulwark between the pipes for four years. The senior keeper demonstrated her prowess again last weekend leading the Bison to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Colgate and La Salle. Her performance landed Althouse Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office. Althouse has now earned the weekly award twice in 2026 and five times in her record-breaking career.Â
Althouse's play in the pen was instrumental in breaking Bucknell's seven-game losing streak and beginning a two-game winning stretch for the Bison. Her two victories moved her career total to 31, tying her for the school record with Maureen Breslin (1995-98) and Sonja Wettergreen (1999-02). Althouse was a brick wall in goal, posting 19 saves, and recording a shutout against La Salle.Â
The Colgate Raiders tested Althouse all night in the 2-1 Bison triumph. The fellow Patriot League foe battered her post with 23 shots and generated 18 penalty corners. Althouse stood tall with 12 saves and directing her fliers. Colgate's one goal arrived on a freak, desperation shot that deflected off a teammate's stick past Althouse. After turning away five Colgate penalty corners in overtime, Althouse shut down the Raiders' shootout attempts. She clinched the victory by drawing an offensive foul on Colgate's last chance.Â
On Senior Day against La Salle, Althouse celebrated with a 1-0 shutout to tie Breslin and Wettergreen. The Explorers penetrated the backline all game, but ran into an impassable portage in Althouse. The senior goalkeeper collected seven saves, as Bucknell won its second straight game, and Althouse achieved her 11th career shutout.Â
Althouse has set a single-season high in saves (88) in 2026. Her 327 career save rank eighth in Bucknell history.Â
Bucknell field hockey heads to Lehigh on Friday, looking to finish the conference slate with a win and improve to .500 overall.Â
