Bison Men Record Four Wins at the Bison Challenge

LEWISBURG & UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Bucknell men's track & field enjoyed a successful day at the Bison Challenge & Multi and the Penn State National Open on Saturday. The Bison athletes recorded four wins and numerous top five finishes.Â

Bison Challenge Recap
All four Bucknell wins occurred on the Gerhard Fieldhouse's friendly home turf. Wade Shomper, the senior shot put star, revved the victory train in his signature event. Shomper threw 55-11.25 in his final throw to steal the win away from Shippensburg's Gian Greggo, whose toss of 55-10.25, paced the field entering the finals.Â
Jared Hess set a personal record in the triple jump. The junior jumper leaped 46-3.50 in his third attempt and the mark held up as the standard.Â
Freshman Ethan Fianko has flashed in his first collegiate season and the rookie kept his debut season going strong with a win in the 400-meter dash. Fianko ran a season-best 49.89.Â
Cooper Hollinger rounded the Bison winners with his victory in the 3000-meter run. The freshman raced for a new personal record of 8:31.39.Â
Adam Dicken notched second in the 800-meter run. The freshman ran 1:56.48.Â
Aiden Tacker placed third in the weight throw. He cleared 60 feet, finishing with a toss of 60-9.50.Â
Jackson DiRoma earned third in the 1000-meter run, registering a time of 2:40.76.Â
Three Bison finished fourth. Jason Lessieu leaped 22-2.50 in the long jump, Garrett Backus ran 7.00 in the 60-meter dash, and Colin Reuther raced 1:07.72 in the 500-meter dash.Â
Tristan McFarlane earned seventh in the high jump, clearing 6-0.75.Â
Ryan Pepperman slotted eighth in the mile run, logging 4:29.04.Â
PSU National Open Recap
Bucknell only participated in the 3000-meter run. Senior Henry Didden led the Orange & Blue contingent with his 12th place finish. The veteran runner logged 8:22.70.Â
Up Next
The Bison head to the Penn Classic next weekend for the final road meet before Patriot League Indoor Championships.Â
