LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell returns to Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday for the first of two 2026 meetings with Army West Point, with live coverage on ESPN+ and Eagle 107. The Bison saw their two-game winning streak come to an end at Colgate on Saturday, while the Black Knights come to Lewisburg looking to shake a five-game losing streak. At 3-3 in the Patriot League, Bucknell is tied for fifth place with Holy Cross, a half-game behind 4-3 Lehigh, which won its Round 7 game against Loyola on Monday night. Navy and Colgate share the top spot at 5-1, with American third at 4-2. Army is alone at the bottom of the table at 1-5.
The Bison are 3-0 at home and 0-3 on the road to start the Patriot League slate. Bucknell has won 14 straight regular-season home games against Patriot League opponents dating back to an overtime loss to Lehigh on Feb. 12, 2024.
Slow starts in both halves doomed Bucknell on the road at Colgate on Saturday afternoon, as the first-place Raiders got a triple-double from Jalen Cox and moved to 5-1 in Patriot League play with a 95-76 victory at Cotterell Court. Colgate scored the first 11 points of the game, and after taking that 11-point lead to intermission, the Raiders tallied the first nine of the second period to stretch the lead to 20.
Bucknell's top two scorers have been freshmen in each of the last three games against Loyola, Lafayette, and Colgate. Patrick Curtin (25) and Amon Dörries (19) combined for 44 points against the Greyhounds;  Curtin (17) and Dörries (15) tallied 32 against the Leopards; and Curtin (18) and Dörries (15) logged 33 against the Raiders. In Patriot League play, Curtin is 11th in the league in scoring (16.0 ppg) and first in steals (2.2 spg), and Dörries has warmed back up after a December dry spell. Over his last five games, the freshman from Germany is averaging 15.0 ppg while shooting 51.8% (29-56) from the field and 45.5% (5-11) from 3-point range. He has hit a 3-pointer in all six Patriot League games.Â
The Bison went 22-for-24 at the foul line at Colgate on Saturday and moved into the Patriot League lead in free-throw percentage at 76.2%. That figure ranks 46th nationally. Bucknell has been even better in league games, converting at an 83.5% clip. Bucknell's .917 free-throw percentage at Colgate was the team's best with at least 20 attempts since it went 19-for-20 (.950) on Jan. 14, 2023 ... also at Colgate.Â
Army is still seeking its first win of the 2026 calendar year. After going 6-7 in non-league play and then winning at Lehigh in overtime in the first Patriot League game on New Year's Eve, the Black Knights have dropped five in a row. Most recent was a 78-67 home setback against American on Sunday. Army features one of the top guards in the league in junior Ryan Curry, who averages 15.0 ppg and 5.2 apg. Jackson Furman (11.1), Jaxson Bell (10.9) and Jacen Holloway (10.5) also score in double figures. The Black Knights are flush with 3-point shooters. They have five players with at least 20 treys, and they lead the Patriot League with 208 made 3-pointers (10.9 per game) and 616 attempts (32.4). Army also leads the league in offensive rebounds per game with 11.9.  Â
The Bison hold a 64-25 lead in an all-time series that dates back to 1929. The Bison are 37-6 all-time at home against Army. Army won the first 10 series showdowns, nine of them coming prior to 1966. As Patriot League rivals, Bucknell has won 63 of 78 meetings. The two teams split the season series last year, with the home team winning both times. Army claimed a wild 116-110 double overtime win at West Point, and then the Bison returned the favor with an 84-53 rout at Sojka Pavilion.Â
Last year's game at Christl Arena was one the wildest in team history. The 116-110 double-overtime loss was the highest-scoring game in school history, eclipsing the 225 points from a 119-106 win over Colgate in 1968. There was high drama throughout the afternoon. Bucknell trailed 87-74 with 3:17 remaining in regulation before stunning the Black Knights with a 13-0 run to force overtime. Noah Williamson scored the tying basket with 16 seconds left, and then he did it again with 26 seconds to go in the first OT period. The Bison led 105-102 in the second OT session, but Army took control with an 8-0 run. The 116 points were the most ever scored by the Black Knights, and it was the most points allowed by Bucknell since a 117-93 loss to Lafayette in 1955. Williamson finished with 29 points and Josh Bascoe had 25 to lead the Bison. Achile Spadone also had a strong game with 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Ryan Curry paced Army with 30 points, followed by Jalen Rucker with 25 and Josh Scovens with 23. Â
On Senior Day at Sojka Pavilion, Bascoe had the best game of his career with 30 points, and the Bison rolled despite playing without Williamson due to injury. Ruot Bijiek added 13 points and Bucknell shot 56.9% from the field and 14-for-25 from 3-point range. Rucker and AJ Allenspach led Army with 13 points apiece, and the Bison did a much better job on Curry, holding him to two points on 1-for-5 shooting. Â
After the Army game, Bucknell will prep for two road games in a span of 48 hours. The Bison travel to Loyola on Saturday for a 5 p.m. start and then will visit Lafayette on Monday at 7 p.m. for the Patriot League Game of the Week on CBS Sports Network. Bucknell will wrap up its season series with the Greyhounds and Leopards after defeating both teams at home over the last two weeks. The Bison downed Loyola 70-67 on Jan. 10 and then turned back Lafayette 76-69 on Jan. 14.Â
