"I was very pleased with the performances of both genders," said head coach Kevin Donner. "We had a five week layoff without a meet in which three of those weeks, our athletes were home for the semester break and practicing on their own. We brought them back this past Sunday and loaded some work for only a week which means we were far from sharp, yet we hung in there and competed well. Compared to one year ago today from the same meet, our men were better in 10 of the 15 common events and our women were better in the 10 of the 14 common events. I like to judge progress from one year ago today to see how our team is developinf. So far we seem to be in a great position for success."
Alexandra Lea continued her rewriting of the Bucknell record book with a sterling performance in the 200-meter dash. The speedy sophomore dashed 24.42, finishing second in the event and third in Bucknell history, moving up from her previous slot in fifth.Â
Another Bison athlete finished second when Elizabeth Bryant cleared 11-3.75 in the pole vault. Kate Harnish and Sierra Strasser also cleared the same distance but Bryant achieved the distinction in her first attempt to break the deadlock.Â
Two Bison runners finished third in their events. Alison Cooke led the Bison contingent in the 400-meter dash. The senior ran 58.32. Kailey Granger recorded a time of 9:51.30 in the 3000-meter run.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Jenna Wright, Raygan Lust, Cooke, and Lea combined for a fourth place finish and a time of 3:51.21.
Madison Fowler finished fourth in the weight throw, hurling 58-1.25, a mark that arrived in her final chance. Fowler also led Bucknell's effort in the shot put, placing eighth with a distance of 43-9.25.Â
Shaelan McNally picked up from her historic cross country campaign with an eighth place finish in the mile run. Her time of 4:55.66 slots tenth in Bucknell history, displacing Kelly McConnell's speed from 2002.Â
Emilia Smith placed tenth in the triple jump. The freshman recorded a mark of 36-7.75.Â
