LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell Field Hockey defender Kira Leclercq raised her level of play even further this past weekend and earned her second straight Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award as announced Monday by the conference office. Leclercq now has collected six of the weekly conference award for her career, passing Bucknell legend Lexi Quick for most tallied in Bison history, cementing her status as one of the Orange & Blue's finest defenders to ever trod the pitch.Â
Leclercq produced all of Bucknell's offense and recorded a defensive save against elite foes No. 17 Penn State and Delaware. The Bison senior scored two goals, despite being keyed on when called upon to take penalty corner and stroke shots. She ran her streak of games with goals scored to three.Â
Her penalty corner tally against Penn State cut the deficit to 2-1 against the ranked foe. Leclercq continues to shine as the Patriot League's finest penalty corner shot taker.Â
Against Delaware, she earned a penalty stroke opportunity when her fierce shot ricocheted off a Blue Hen defender. She lined up for the rare penalty stroke and calmly slammed it past the hapless Delaware goalkeeper.Â
Leclercq has won Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week six times in her illustrious career. She became the first Bison since Quick in 2018 (Sept. 3 and 10) to win back-to-back defensive laurels.Â
The consecutive honors will help Leclercq in her grail quest to repeat as Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year.Â
