About the Bison
- Bucknell heads to Rehoboth Beach for its second tournament of the season on Monday and Tuesday. Sacred Heart is the tournament host, and the Bison are one of 15 teams in the field at Kings Creek.
- The Bison will have five players in the lineup this week: junior Katherine Vice, freshman Joelle Johnson, sophomore Sophia Bardunias, sophomore Katrina von Behren, and junior Lila Smith. Â
- Bucknell opened its fall season last weekend with a team and individual win at the Bucknell Invitational, Bucknell's home tournament.
- As a team, the Bison set multiple records as they ran away to beat the field by 33 strokes. The Bison scored 590 after 36 holes to beat its 36-hole record by a stroke. The Bison then had a great final round, and their 885 total smashed its 54-hole record by 11 strokes.
- The Bison sported two teams in the field, with the B-squad taking an eighth-place finish. Six Bison finished in the top-10 of the individual rankings.
- Vice and Johnson finished at 10-over par for the tournament, heading into a friendly playoff. Vice took the match on the second playoff hole to win her first career tournament. Vice fired a team-low 71 (+1) on Sunday, grabbing an eagle on hole 15 and a birdie on hole 18 to get to 10-over par. Her 71 in the final round is a career-low for the junior and matched her career-best in relation to par. Vice shot 72-77-71 for the tournament.
- Johnson wrapped up her first collegiate tournament with an impressive debut to start her career. Johnson carded a 75 in the third round with a birdie on hole 10, and she finished the tournament with rounds of 73-72-75.
- Katrina von Behren finished in a tie for fourth on the individual leader board after carding 77-74-74. The sophomore's pair of 74s were career lows and one off her career-best of three-over par for a single round.
- Sophomore Sophia Bardunias shot 75-73-75 (+13) for the tournament to finish in a tie for fourth. Junior Nicole Yun finished in 23rd with a 79-74-80 for the tournament.
- Junior Lila Smith and senior Paige Richter each finished in the top-10 of the individual rankings. Smith got out to a rough start with an 83 in the first round, but fired back with two rounds of 72 on the back end of the tournament to finish in eighth place. Richter carded a 78-73-77 over the weekend.
- Freshmen Caroline Zeiger and Darcy Wright each fired an 82 in the final round, and senior Erin Drahnak shot an 81 to wrap up her final Bucknell Invitational.
- Bucknell played a 54-hole tournament at Kings Creek last fall, finishing T-3rd in the nine-team field. Bardunias was Bucknell's low-scoring individual, shooting 79-76-82.
- Bucknell heads to Penn State for the Nittany Lion Invitational for a Sunday-Monday event.
