LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell softball, under Coach Sarah Caffrey, has long merged academic and athletic success and the team routinely ranks among the top programs nationally in GPA. The Patriot League voters, familiar with that Bison tradition, named two Orange & Blue student-athletes, Madison Roukey and Haley Speicher, to the 2025 Patriot League Softball Academic All-League Team as announced Wednesday by the league office. Roukey received the laurel last year and is the first repeat honoree since Zoie Smith (2023 & 2024).
Roukey, a Markets, Innovation & Design major, recorded a 3.86 cumulative GPA in her distinguished academic career. The SAAC Director of Communications has shined in and out of the circle. The senior pitcher recently won the Lee S. "Bud" Ranck Memorial Award presented to student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding leadership during the 2024-25 season at The Buckys on Monday. Roukey moved up the Bison leaderboards during her final campaign ranking fifth in appearances (105), seventh in shutouts (9), ninth in saves (2) and strikeouts (225), and tenth in starts (61) and wins (25).
Speicher, a Business Analytics major, luminates in the classroom with a 3.95 GPA. The speedy slapper recently crossed the 100-hit milestone last weekend against Holy Cross. She won Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. An ideal leadoff hitter, Speicher paces the team in average (.304), on-base percentage (.396), and triples (3).
Bucknell softball heads to the Patriot League Tournament which starts tomorrow against number one seed Army.
