Softball Drops Series Finale at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Bucknell softball (9-23, 0-9 Patriot League) suffered an 11-0 loss to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (18-18, 6-3 Patriot League) on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series. Lehigh jumped ahead 10-0 after two innings and completed the series sweep.
Madison Roukey started in the circle and Lehigh immediately went to work. Kelly Fricker singled and was sacrificed to second. Rory Dudley followed with a towering two-run home run over the left field wall and Lehigh led 2-0.
The second inning turned into a marathon frame with Lehigh recording eight runs. A double, a single, and a hit by pitch loaded the bases and chased Roukey from the circle. Savannah Jones walked in a run and Julia Mrochko singled in two Mountain Hawks. Dudley singled up the middle for two more runs. Two walks and another RBI single forced Jones from the game. Sarah Zimmerman entered and yielded another RBI walk and single. The relief pitcher obtained the final out but Lehigh led 10-0.
Haley Speicher roped a triple in the third inning for Bucknell's only hit but was left stranded at third.
Lehigh bunched together three singles in its third frame for the 11th run. Mea Consentino entered the circle and put out the fire.
The Bison went down 1-2-3 in the fifth inning to invoke the 8-run rule.
Bucknell returns to Becker Field to face the Lafayette Leopards next weekend.
