Baseball Drops Rubber Match at Lehigh 14-4

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell baseball team dropped its rubber match with Lehigh 14-4 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at J. David Walker Field at Legacy Park.

Bucknell (14-24, 6-13 PL) got off to a hot start with a three-run first inning, but a four-run first and four-run third inning gave Lehigh a 9-4 lead to quickly flip the momentum (19-19, 8-11 PL). The Mountain Hawks then ran away with it, getting crooked numbers again in the sixth and seventh innings to reach the run rule.

Senior Tyler Dunn was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk to extend his on-base streak to 31 games. Dunn tied the game 4-4 in the second inning with an RBI single. Senior Billy Kender also extended his on-base streak to 20 games with a walk.

Junior Ryan Facinelli and sophomore Luke Nascimento drove in runs in Bucknell's first inning rally. Facinelli opened the scoring with an RBI single up the middle before a two-out single by Nascimento made it 3-0 Bison.

AJ Murray was a bright spot for the Bison on the mound. The freshman tossed 2.2 scoreless innings to hold off the Mountain Hawks offense. Murray stuck out two batters to end Lehigh's four-run inning with two runners on base. He allowed three hits over the next two innings, but stranded all three runners and finished his day with four strikeouts.

The Mountain Hawks scored its 14 runs on 14 hits after going for 11 hits in Game 2 on Saturday. The Bison had just four hits in the game and were held without a hit after the second inning.

Bucknell is back in action with a midweek contest at Villanova on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Army in a three-game series at Depew Field next weekend.
