
Women's Tennis Narrowly Falls to Colgate

Hamilton, N.Y. - Anna Lajos, Riley Jennings and Abby Platt won their singles matches, but it wouldn't be enough as Colgate took the win 4-3. Bucknell moves to 9-9 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League with the loss.Â
The day began with Addie Eklund and Rebecca Hess defeating Cameron King and Jaycie Mair in doubles on Court 3 6-0. Caroline Marcus and Riley Jennings then defeated Eliza Podlas and Carina Cristobal 6-4 to tie doubles at 1-1. The final doubles match on Court 1 went to extra points and fell in the favor of Colgate to give it a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, the Raiders took wins on Court 1 and Court 5 to give them a 3-0 lead early. Anna Lajos then took her doubles match on Court 3 6-3, 6-1 over Anya Kunar to make it 3-1. Colgate secured the win with the next singles match on Court 4.Â
Platt and Jennings both took their singles matches in three sets to finish the match, but it wouldn't be enough to bring the Bison a win. Platt defeated Sophia Montero on Court 2 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Jennings defeated Eliza Podlas 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.Â
Bucknell will return on Sunday, April 13 at 10 a.m. as they face Army in West Point, N.Y.
