
Abby Platt Clinches 4-3 Victory Over Towson

Towson, Md. -Â Abby Platt clinched the 4-3 win for Bucknell on Tuesday over Towson with her singles victory on Court 2. With the win, the Bison's record improves to 8-8 overall and they extend their win streak to three.
The match began with Towson taking the doubles point 2-0 with wins on Courts 2 and 3. Court 1 went unfinished as the Tigers took the doubles point.Â
Towson continued its wins into singles play as it took the first match on Court three and a 2-0 lead in the match. Bucknell answered quickly, winning three singles matches back-to-back to take a 3-2 lead with two matches remaining. Whitney King defeated Kiersten Tambe on Court 1 7-5, 6-1, Jaycie Mair defeated Ashira Murray 6-2, 6-1 on Court 4 and Caroline Marcus defeated Olivia Rothfeld in three sets on Court 5. Towson then tied the match at 3-3 with a win on Court 6.Â
The overall match came down to the singles match on Court 2. Platt clinched the win for the Bison by defeating Gaia Montecchi 6-4, 6-4.Â
Bucknell will return home for its next match to take on Patriot League opponent Lehigh in its Senior Day game as the Bison celebrate their three senior captains.
