LEWISBURG, Pa. – Eight members of the Bucknell swimming & diving teams earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday. Seniors Justin DiSanto, Andy Dorsel, Will Hedges, and Chris Kopac represent the men's squad, while seniors Meghan Catherwood and Skye Sunderhauf along with juniors Jennifer Bolden and Kyla Kelly were honored from the women's team.
In order to qualify for swimming & diving Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, and they must have competed in at least five competitions during the season or finished in the top eight at a conference meet.
All eight of Bucknell's honorees easily met the 3.50 threshold. In fact, the group has a combined 3.81 GPA, led by a perfect 4.00 from Catherwood, a senior diver and biology major who has one of the best academic records in the entire Class of 2025.
Bucknell's other seven honorees were all swimmers with impressive accolades in the pool as well as the classroom. Dorsel, Kopac, and Sunderhauf all earned All-Patriot League honors this season, with Dorsel and Kopac becoming four-time honorees. The same trio also represented the Bison on the Academic All-Patriot League Teams.
DiSanto (100 free, 200/400 medley relay, 200/400 free relay), Dorsel (800 free relay), Kopac (200 free, 800 free relay), and Hedges (200 breast) will all graduate as school record-holders. Kelly and Bolden helped set the school record in the 200 free relay this year, and all four women hold numerous spots on the Bucknell top-10 lists.
The swimming & diving teams traditionally rank among Bucknell's best in terms of team GPAs. In the fall 2024 semester, the women combined for a 3.76 GPA and the men a 3.46 GPA.
