Navy dominated winning the competition with 223 points. Army finished second with 153 followed by Boston with 93. Bucknell was fourth, Holy Cross slotted fifth (53), Lehigh grabbed sixth (38), and Colgate clinched seventh (31). American earned eighth (25) and Lafayette placed last (23). Â
Donner's Debriefing
"It was a solid meet for our men. There was a point where I thought we could finish as high as third as a team but we could not quite get going with the momentum rolling on Sunday. However, the men worked hard this weekend and now we can start shifting to the direction to the spring outdoor season."
Bucknell placed three in the top eight of the shot put. Wade Shomper led the way finishing second with a throw of 17.38 meters (57-0.25). Braden Stryker earned fifth on a toss of 15.88 meters (52-1.25). Braiden Pulver rounded out the trio placing seventh throwing 1584 meters (51-11.75).Â
"Wade had a great indoor season and I'm so happy his hard work is transferring to the distances he's thrown this year," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. "He sets the tone for the entire men's group. I thought he was a little off with his timing but he still finds a way to do his part for the team."
Brian Scotto completed his indoor track & field career with a silver medal in the 60-meter hurdles. The Bison senior raced 8.16 to win second by 0.08 seconds.Â
"I am very happy for Scotto," said sprints and hurdles coach Richard Alexander - a Bucknell track alum. "He has battled injuries throughout his career and to finish second and be All-Patriot League as a senior was great to witness."
Two Bison scored in the triple jump. Freshman CJ Simbiri introduced himself to the conference by finishing third (48-6.75) to move into sixth in Bucknell history. Chris Sims grabbed seventh (46-11).Â
"I'm glad I could perform well when it mattered most," said Simbiri. "All the glory goes to God because a couple years ago I couldn't even see myself here."
"It has been six years since I was last here and the intensity is ten-fold," said jumps and multi coach Kaitlin Salisbury - a Bucknell track & field legend. "That was easily the most competitive triple jump final I've ever seen and CJ fit right in. He's making himself a facet in every triple final. You're going to hear his name a lot in the next three years. Bet on it!"
Bucknell unlocked a new top ten time in the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome of Amani Brown, Brandon Foust, Colby Belczyk, and Preston Lubeski worked together for a time of 3:16.77 finishing third. Their mark sits eighth in Bucknell history.
Jeffrey Cianfrocca cleared 6-8.25 in the high jump for sixth place. His mark slots tied for ninth in Bucknell history.
The distance medley relay quartet of Carter Paul, Ethan Knight, Hayden Singer, and Henry Didden earned seventh, racing 10:05.76.Â
Freshman William Feddeler delivered an impressive performance in his first Patriot League competition. The rookie finished eighth in the heptathlon with 4701 points. The total ranks seventh in Bison history. His placement was powered by a third place finish in the shot put and fourth in the high jump and 1000-meter run.Â
Lubeski earned eighth in the 400-meter dash racing 50.04.Â
Foust ended his indoor campaigns finishing eighth by running seven seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Bucknell will rest until the outdoor campaign begins in three weeks.Â
