LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior attackman Michael Meyer turned in one of the best performances of his career in Bucknell's thrilling 18-17 win over No. 15 Colgate, and on Monday he was voted Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and the Bison of the Week.
Meyer recorded five goals and five assists for a career-high 10 points against the Raiders, and he was especially clutch in the fourth quarter of a back-and-forth contest. Meyer scored three goals in the final period, and all three tied the game at 15-15, 16-16, and 17-17. The last of those came with 5:01 to play, and then one minute later Connor Davis scored what proved to be the game-winner.
It was a big road win for the Bison, who shook off a four-game losing streak and improved to 1-2 in league play.
Meyer is one of the nation's top point-getters this spring. He leads the Bison with 40 points on 18 goals and 22 assists, and on the Division I leaderboard he ranks fourth in assists per game (3.14) and sixth in points per game (5.71).
Davis ranks second nationally with 29 goals along with seven assists, making them one of the nation's highest-scoring duos. They combined for 17 points against Colgate, with Davis logging three goals and a career-high four assists.
Bucknell will look to build on the big victory this Saturday when Lehigh visits Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at noon.
