Robert Morris Recap
Madison Roukey started in the circle and threw two scoreless innings before yielding five runs in the third frame.
The Bison jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Nicole Lioumis singled and stole second. Rookie Reagan Powell, with two outs, smashed her second home run of the weekend.
A four-pitch walk commenced the next inning and proved an omen for the RMU blitz. Two straight singles loaded the bases. Roukey obtained a strikeout but the next batter doubled for two runs. A three-run homer followed and the Colonials held the 5-2 lead.
Bucknell regained the lead in the fourth inning scoring four runs. Brooke Popella singled and Lioumis hit her first career home run by going the opposite way. Marissa Rapino singled and Powell tied the game with a triple. RMU changed pitchers but Juliette Basso did not care, singling home Powell for the lead. Haley Speicher reached on an error but two straight fielder's choices ended the inning.
The lead didn't last long. Payton Hale, who entered in the fourth frame, allowed two singles. Savannah Jones replaced her and gave up a game-tying single. The next batter cracked a three-run homer. Two strikeouts sandwiched a single and Bucknell seemed ready to escape the inning. It was not to happen. A double scored the tenth run. Mea Consentino entered the circle but the Colonials smelled blood and collected two doubles and back-to-back home runs for the 16-6 lead.
Bucknell singled twice in the bottom of the fifth inning but could not score any runs to prevent the mercy rule from striking.
Radford Recap
Savannah Jones started in the circle and threw 4.1 innings to record the victory.
The Bison collected four runs in the third inning. Powell started the action with a single and Bella Radican advanced her to third with a second single. Radican stole second while Speicher popped up and Shea Malone flew out. Jones helped her cause with a slashing single scoring Powell and Radican. Makenzie Hilling followed with a massive home run to center field.
Bucknell added five runs in the fifth inning to set up the mercy rule conclusion. Speicher started the parade by reaching on an error. Ava Aguilar smashed a RBI triple. Jones lashed a single to right field to score Aguilar. Hilling walked and Popella sacrificed the runners to second and third. Lioumis hit a RBI single, followed by Rapino's sacrifice fly. Powell gathered another RBI with an infield single.
Radford scratched out a run in the bottom of the frame but it was not enough to avoid the mercy rule.
