Bain, Stavrakas Advance to Quarterfinals of Pacific Coast Doubles Championship

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Bucknell juniors Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega and Adam Stavrakas won four matches before finally being eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship at La Jolla Beach Tennis Club.
Bain and Stavrakas went 3-0 on Friday, beating duos from Pomona Pitzer, UCLA, and Ball State. In the Round of 16 on Saturday morning, the Bison pair knocked out Luke Bollinger and Kaveh Taheri of UC Davis in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
In the quarterfinal round, Bain and Stavrakas won the first set 6-4 against Nevada's Youssef Kadiri and Lucas Hammond, but the Wolf Pack tandem rallied to take two tightly contested sets 7-5 and 6-4.
Bain and Stavrakas are now 10-4 together this season. The Bison are back in action on Sunday against Division III power Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 1 p.m. ET.
