Softball Picks Up First Win in 2025

The Cowgirls decided the game in the first inning. Madison Roukey started in the circle and quickly ran into trouble, lasting only an inning. A hit by pitch, a single, and a steal placed runners at second and third. A double and single scored two runs. A sacrifice bunt tallied another run. A third single notched the fourth run. Roukey rallied to escape the inning without allowing more damage.Â
Bella Radican delivered Bucknell's sole run in the third inning. The senior infielder displayed opposite field power with a home run over the right field wall for her first career bomb. Radican displayed a frenzy of excitement as she dashed around the bases in exuberant celebration.Â

McNeese added two insurance runs in the fifth inning. The leadoff hitter jacked a home run and the next batter doubled chasing Payton Hale from the game for Mea Consentino. A passed ball and a single up the middle scored the sixth run.Â
The Bison singled twice in the sixth inning but no runs came across and the game ended with the 6-1 score.Â

Savannah Jones started in the circle and delivered four innings of one run ball.Â
Bucknell collected four runs in the third inning. Juliette Basso and Angelina Seropian walked with one out. Skye Perez notched her first career RBI with a sharp single. Jones helped her cause with a two-run triple down the right field line. Shea Malone provided the fourth run with a single up the middle.Â
The next inning saw Bucknell keeping the offensive momentum going with eight runs. Nicole Lioumis and Marissa Rapino walked to start the frame but two fielder's choices followed. Perez walked to load the bases. Jones walked for her third RBI. Malone singled to left field for another run. MaKenzie Hilling knocked in two more runs. Brooke Popella reached on an error and another run scored. Lioumis singled to load the bases. Rapino delivered the piece de resistance with a scorching double down the line clearing the pond and giving the Orange & Blue a 12-0 lead.Â
Pine Bluff scored a run in their fourth frame by bunching three singles together. Jones obtained a grounder to prevent further scoring.Â
Roukey entered the circle in the fifth inning seeking to invoke the mercy rule. The senior pitcher almost yielded a double but Jones playing left field snagged the liner in a sensational catch. A grounder to Hilling at first base ended the game and gave Bucknell its first win.Â
