LEWISBURG, Pa. – After recording two more double-doubles and leading the Bucknell men's basketball team to a 2-0 week, junior center Noah Williamson has been selected as the Patriot League Player of the Week.
Williamson turned in one of the best performances of his career in Saturday's 85-75 win at Navy. He tallied 29 points on 11-for-14 shooting from the field, and he added 12 rebounds and a pair of assists. Williamson had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the first half alone, when the Bison shot 75 percent as a team and raced out to a commanding 51-26 halftime lead. The 11 made field goals was a new career high.
Earlier in the week, Williamson logged 13 points, a career-high-tying 16 rebounds, and four assists in a 79-67 home win over Loyola. The 7'0" center knocked down his only 3-point attempt against the Greyhounds, extending his streak to nine made threes in a row. That tied Mike Bright's school record, set in 1993.
Williamson leads the Patriot League with eight double-doubles on the season, with five of them coming in Patriot League play. He has eclipsed the 20-point mark in six of Bucknell's 10 league games, and his 20.3 scoring average against PL foes is the best in the conference. His overall mark of 16.4 ppg ranks fourth in the league.
Bucknell is now 6-4 in the Patriot League, good for a three-way tie for second place alongside Army and Colgate. American sits alone in first place at 8-2 thanks to a seven-game winning streak, and the Eagles will be at Sojka Pavilion to face Bucknell on Wednesday night.
