Kender Earns Patriot League Player of the Week with Big Offensive Series at Davidson

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior second-baseman Billy Kender was selected as the Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday after a 6-for-12 series at the plate with six RBIs on the road at Davidson this past weekend.

Kender exploded for six hits against the Wildcats after just one hit in the series at Virginia Tech, including a three-run home run in the fourth inning of Game 3. The blast made it a 7-1 ballgame, and the Bison held the lead for the remainder of the game. In that game, Kender was 3-for-5 with a career-high four RBIs. In the series, he struck out just one time.

A two-time All-Patriot Leaguer, Kender currently leads the Bison with a .333 batting average in 21 at-bats. Kender was a big offensive spark for the Bison in Games 2 and 3, scoring two runs in each of those games.

The Bison are 3-3 after its first two series with a single game at Pittsburgh on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Bucknell takes on Saint Joseph's in its home-opener this Saturday at 12 p.m.
