Amar Tahirovic Named Patriot League Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Make it four straight Patriot League Player of the Week awards for the Bucknell men's tennis team. Amar Tahirovic earned his second honor of the spring, bookending a pair of citations for teammate Adam Stavrakas, after winning both of his matches against Drexel on Friday.
Tahirovic was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Alexander de Sousa at No. 1 singles, and he teamed with Brendan McDonald for a 7-5 win over de Sousa and Roman Lafond at first doubles. Stavrakas also won his singles match 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, but the Dragons went on to win the dual by a 5-2 count.
Tahirovic is now 16-2 in singles this season, including a 5-0 record in dual matches, and 11-6 in doubles.
Bucknell returns to action this weekend with a pair of matches against Philadelphia squads. The Bison travel to Villanova on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. followed by a home date with Saint Joseph's on Sunday at 1 p.m.
