Football Team Places League-High 68 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell football team was in contention for a Patriot League title all the way up to the final week of the 2024 season, and the Bison squad also turned in an outstanding fall in the classroom. Head coach Dave Cecchini's squad combined for a 3.35 grade-point average, and the Bison placed a league-high 68 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.Â
To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. Bucknell recorded a league-high 198 student-athletes out of a total of 1,336 honorees.
Among the Bison football squad's 68 Honor Roll members, 48 also made the Bucknell Dean's List with a GPA of 3.50 or better, and five earned perfect 4.0s: TJ Cadden, Nick Hoying, Cade Rooney, Aneesh Vyas, and Takai Whitmore. Bucknell's Honor Roll list also includes offensive lineman John Ohnegian, who was selected as the 2024 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Ohnegian, Vyas, Brad Jamison, and Gavin Willis were all named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, and those four along with Hoying, Rooney, Jake Guy, and Christian Spugnardi all made the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
