Morgan State Recap
Bucknell routed the Bears 50-0Â for its biggest win since destroying Sacred Heart 51-0 on Dec. 17, 2011. The Bison recorded three pins and two technical falls en route to winning all eight contested bouts. Morgan State forfeited two weight classes (157 and 184) to pad Bucknell's point total. Bucknell hit the 50-point threshold despite sitting out No. 10 Dillon Bechtold (197) and No. 24 Myles Takats (174) due to precautionary measures.
Dylan Chappell (141), Riley Bower (149), and Lucas Lawler (285) landed the pins to punctuate the Bison's utter dominance of its fellow EIWA program.

Kade Davidheiser (125) and Bryce Manera (133) launched the rout with their technical falls. Bucknell had fallen behind in its four previous duals but the Orange & Blue wrote a new script and used the 10-0 lead to springboard to the historic dubbing.
No. 21 Noah Mulvaney (165) was a meet-time verdict and the junior gutted out a 9-0 major decision.
Freshman Shane McFillin (174) moved up a weight class and delivered a hard-earned 6-4 decision to preserve the shutout.
Riley Godek (197) traditionally performed in the heavyweight class but moved down and won 11-7. He led 10-2 and withstood a furious comeback to hold on for the win.
Virginia RecapDespite missing Bechtold and Takats, the Bison almost pulled off the win over Virginia, but the Cavaliers won the final two bouts to escape with a 19-18 victory. Bucknell led 14-8 before the Wahoo rallied for the exciting victory.Â
Both teams won two major decisions in the first four bouts. Manera (133) defeated Ethan Timar 16-4 and came very close to unlocking the technical fall. Chappell (141) dominated Gable Porter 12-2. Virginia won the opening bout when No. 23 Keyveon Roller defeated Kade Davidheiser 11-2 and earned the bonus point with a takedown as time expired. The extra tally proved decisive. Wynton Denkins aced Braden Bower 12-2.Â
Wirnsberger (157) pulled off the upset of the day with a gritty 4-3 decision over No. 24 Colton Washleski, moving Bucknell ahead 11-8. The Bison junior used an escape point and takedown in the second period to build a 4-0 lead which held up against Washleski's repeated assaults and feints.Â
The Bison went up 14-8 after Mulvaney (165) rallied from a 7-2 deficit for the 13-8 decision. Mulvaney, hobbled by an injury, fell behind early but kept clawing and seized the lead on a takedown/near fall combo. He later padded his lead with a takedown.ÂWirnsberger pulled the 4-3 upset over No. 24 Colton Washleski to give Bucknell the 11-8 lead!

Virginia regained the momentum in the 174-bout with a 15-0 technical fall victory. Emmitt Sherlock unlocked the win over McFillin in the first period.Â
Bienus (184) yielded a takedown in the first period but outscored Josh Lesher 13-1 to win the major decision and boost Bucknell's lead to 18-13.Â
Mikey Bartush (197) received the start but lost 10-3 to Steven Burrell Jr. to set a winner-take-all situation in the heavyweight bout.Â
Lawler (285) and Brenan Morgan walked on the mat with the score at 18-16 Bucknell. Morgan opened up a 13-3 advantage but Lawler refused to adjourn grabbing three takedowns late in the third period. He had Morgan on his back with eight seconds later but the officials claimed the Cavalier was out of bounds to deny Bucknell's last chance. Riding time finalized the bout at 17-12 and Virginia gained the 19-18 win.Â
