Bucknell Women's Basketball Set to Host Gwynedd Mercy Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's basketball is back in Sojka this weekend for a holiday game against Division III opponent Gwynedd Mercy. The Bison will take on the Griffins on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. This will be the first game between the two teams in program history.

In addition to Woodruff and returning assistant coaches Edward Joyner Jr. and Shelby Case, the Bison had two new additions to their coaching staff in the off-season. Lauren Holden joined the Bison as the associate head coach and Danielle Patterson joined Bucknell as an assistant coach.

Gwynedd Mercy comes into the contest 3-6 overall after falling to Delaware Valley 64-54 on Monday night.
In their loss to Delaware Valley, the Griffins led much of the contest before a late fourth-quarter surge by the Aggies resulted in a 64–54 decision at James Work Gymnasium. Senior forward Erin Eisenhart did it all for the red and gold tonight, including playing all 40 minutes finishing with 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals.

Bucknell's Last Time Out

Dartmouth took the lead at the end of the third quarter of play and put together a 10-0 run towards the end of the fourth to earn a 53-45 home victory over Bucknell on Sunday afternoon in Leede Arena after five minutes of scoreless play in the fourth quarter. The Bison held the lead throughout the first half of play due to an 11-0 run in the first, but struggled to keep up with the second half shooting efforts from the Big Green.
Tuana Coskun and Elana Weisman led the Bison in scoring with 11 points. Anna Kunzwiler followed closely with 10 and Isabella Casey notched 8. Casey led the team in rebounds with eight, Coskun led in assists with four and Kunzwiler led in steals with three.
Bucknell shot 38.9% from the field, which was better than Dartmouth's 37.5%, but only shot 15.8% from the three-point line, which proved to be a difference maker as the Big Green shot 34.8% from three.
The hot-shooting Dartmouth squad was led by Ninia Minicozzi who put up 14 points, shooting 3-of-5 from the three-point line in big moments of the game. The Big Green only had six personal fouls in 40 minutes of play compared to Bucknell's 15.
