STOUGHTON, Wi. - Bucknell (0-3) rallied from a 15-3 deficit to tie the dual at 15-15 but No. 24 Wisconsin (3-0) escaped with the 19-15 victory on Tuesday night by winning the heavyweight dual. Both teams won five matches with Noah Mulvaney's win in his home state over a ranked foe and Myles Takats' major decision headlining the Bison effort. Bucknell has faced three ranked teams to begin its 2025-26 dual schedule.Â
The score was tied at 15-15 after nine bouts, leaving the heavyweight match to decide the entire contest. Wisconsin sent redshirt senior No. 18Â Braxton Amos against Bucknell's promising freshman Lucas Lawler. The Bison grappler fought hard but the experienced Badger won a 11-2 major decision for the dual victory.Â
The Bison trailed 15-3 when Noah Mulvaney (165), returning to his native terra forma of Wisconsin, delivered the upset victory over No. 23 Cody Goebel in a 9-5 victory. The Badger State native's victory sparked the start of four straight wins for Bucknell.Â
No. 26 Myles Takats (174) followed up on Mulvaney's homecoming triumph with a 14-3 major decision over Luke Condon. Takats' major decision was Bucknell's first non-decision result in a dual this season.Â
Mikey Bartush (184) received the start in his weight class and rallied from a deficit for the 14-10 decision over Cade Anderson to cut the Badgers' lead to 15-12.Â
No. 12 Dillon Bechtold (197) picked up his first dual win of the season and tied the score at 15-15Â by edging a gritty Wyatt Ingham for the 5-4 decision.
Wisconsin won four of the first five bouts. No. 22 Dylan Chappell (141) was the only fly in the ointment with his 7-2 decision over Carson Exferd.Â
Bucknell will enjoy Thanksgiving before continuing its grueling non-conference schedule when the Bison travel to Keystone State rival No. 19 Pittsburgh on Dec. 7.Â
