Water Polo Routs Mercyhurst 26-12

ERIE, Pa.- Bucknell (5-10, 2-4 MAWPC) broke its three-game losing streak with a decisive 26-12 victory over Mercyhurst (0-10, 0-6 MAWPC) in conference action on Sunday afternoon. Ten different Bison recorded a goal to overwhelm the Lakers and record a season-high output.Â
Mateo Herrera received the start between the pipes and recorded five saves.Â
Aleksa Stefanovic led Bucknell with five goals, as part of Bucknell's amazing 26-of-36 shooting.Â
Bucknell put the game away in the opening quarter by outscoring Mercyhurst 8-2.Â
The Bison offense did not hesitate in the second period, once again repeating its eight-goal outburst. Mercyhurst scored four goals to trail 16-6 at halftime.Â
The Lakers fought hard in the third quarter and actually outscored Bucknell 3-2. It served as a moral victory for the home team.Â
Bucknell finished the game on a strong note with its third eight-goal quarter to finish the game at 26-12.Â
The Orange & Blue welcomes Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 10) and Mercyhurst (Oct. 11) next weekend for two more MAWPC games.Â
