LEWISBURG, Pa.- Reese Zemitis recorded her first collegiate double-double in the 51-34 win over Colgate and the effort landed the freshman guard/forward her second Patriot League Women's Basketball PenFed Rookie of the Week Award. Zemitis previously won the honor on 12/23.Â
"Reese continues to improve and we are looking forward to that continued improvement," said head coach Trevor Woodruff. "It was well-deserved and we look forward to continued success for her and the team."
Zemitis recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds in Bucknell's double-digit road victory. The rookie shot an efficient 5-of-9 from the field including an electric 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Her 11 rebounds were a career, game, and season high. She became the first Bison outside Ashley Sofilkanich to achieve a double-double since Blake Matthews posted 10 points and 10 rebounds against Navy on March 6, 2024.Â
The Langhorne native scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the two games versus Lehigh and Colgate. She notched 12 points on four three-pointers against Lehigh.Â
Since being inserted into the starting lineup due to injuries, Zemitis has shined averaging nearly 14 ppg and just over five rebounds per game. She has scored in the double-digits five times and sits at 8.7 ppg and 3.6 rpg and leads Bucknell with 1.5 steals per game.Â
She has displayed excellent stamina during her starting stretch playing 37, 39, and 38 minutes.Â
Zemitis and the Bison return to action this Wednesday at Lafayette for a 6 p.m. contest.Â
