Women’s Tennis Downed at Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. – Whitney King and Abby Platt were victorious at No. 1 doubles, but Delaware won the other two doubles matches and all six singles contests on the way to a 7-0 victory over the Bucknell women's tennis team on Sunday afternoon at DuPont Country Club.
King and Platt were 6-3 winners over Maryia Hrynashsa and Paulina Jurkowska at first doubles, but the Blue Hens (2-0) had already clinched the doubles point with 6-1 wins on Courts 2 and 3.
King did not play singles due to injury, which forced the rest of the Bucknell (1-2) lineup to bump up one rung, and Delaware took all six in straight sets. The closest matches came on Courts 2 and 4. Anna Lajos fell 6-4, 6-4 to Alina Vasilenko at No. 2, and Mirra Manolov dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Navya Vadlamudi at No. 4.
Bucknell returns home next weekend for a pair of matches. The Bison will host Hofstra on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Howard on Sunday at noon. Both contests will be held at the Central PA Tennis Center in South Williamsport.
