LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's Clara Renner continued her outstanding rookie season with five more individual event wins last weekend, and on Tuesday she collected her second Patriot League Swimmer of the Week honor of the campaign.
The Wellesley, Mass., native remained undefeated in dual competitions this season after taking all five of her races on back-to-back days against La Salle and Army West Point. Renner won the 1,000-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly in Bucknell's 175-125 win over the Explorers in Philadelphia on Friday, and then she came back the following afternoon to sweep the 500 free, 200 fly, and 400 individual medley in a narrow 153-147 home loss to the Black Knights.
In the 200 fly and 500 free, Renner edged out Army junior Molly Webber, who was the 2024 Patriot League Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual gold medals, two relay gold medals, and two relay silver medals.
Including the Bucknell Fall Invitational, Renner now has 13 individual event victories this season, and she also qualified for the A Final in the 500 free at the Toyota U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C., in December. Renner's name already appears on Bucknell's all-time top-10 lists in seven different events.
Bucknell is now 4-2 on the season heading into a home dual with Loyola on Friday afternoon.
