"I was pleased with how our women handled the course and they looked pretty good out there and had control of the race," said Coach Kevin Donner. "It was warm and they ran with great patience. It was a good rust buster for our top veterans. Caryn looked super over the second half of the race and it was nice to see Trapani, Rentner, and Granger all together. We held out our top three freshmen to keep them fresh for Penn State next week. They ran well last week and I did not want them racing three weekends in a row."
Junior Caryn Rippey grabbed the decisive victory by 36 seconds. Her time of 17:13.6 demolished the competition. The junior runner had an incredible track & field season and she has not missed a beat.Â
Kailey Granger, Lauren Trapani, and Meghan Rentner were literally neck-to-neck during the entire race and finished as close as runners could do. Granger grabbed second place by running 17:49.6. Trapani was practically clinging to her back, finishing 17:49.7 for third place. Rentner picked up fourth trailing Trapani by 0.01 seconds with a mark of 17:49.8.Â
Sarah Policano rounded out the Bison scoring by placing sixth. She ran a solid 18:07.9 to beat a Seton Hall runner by six seconds for her slot.Â
Seton Hall finished second wth 77 points. American was third (79), Loyola grabbed fourth (98), and Lafayette placed fifth (108).Â
Bucknell returns to action on Sept. 13 at the Spiked Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State.Â
