UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's cross country team performed admirably against a diverse and difficult host of opponents at the PSU Spiked Shoe Invitational Friday morning. The Orange & Blue grabbed ninth and was the highest-finishing non-Power Four/Ivy League team.Â

"We had a very solid race, especially with all the sickness that went through our team this week," said head coach Kevin Donner. Some were able to still grind out solid races. Rippey has now run two nice meets in back-to-back weekends and I like where Granger, Rentner, and Trapani are at right now. O'Day did a great job filling the five spot for us as a freshman. We now have 21 days before we race again and it will be a nice training block."
Caryn Rippey, continuing her hot stretch after finishing first at the Lafayette Preview, placed 23rd with a time of 21:03.0, finishing as the highest non-Power Four/Ivy League runner in a crowded field. Her placement was powered by a movement of 13 spots. The junior has blossomed early as the Bison's foremost runner.Â
Meghan Rentner finished 53rd on a time of 21:38.0. Her position was also fueled by a late surge in movement.Â
Kailey Granger dropped 12 spots late in the race but still carved out a top 70 finish at 70th. Her mark of 21:47.3 sealed the strong result.Â
Lauren Trapani gave Bucknell a fourth runner in the top 75 by finishing 73th. The senior recorded a speed of 21:50.7.Â
Kerry O'Day continued her strong freshman season by placing 83rd. The rookie runner raced to a time of 21:59.8.Â
Bucknell will rest for two weekends before returning to action at the Paul Short Run.Â
