BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's cross country team competed at the 50th edition of the historic Paul Short Run and placed 20th in the Women's College Gold 6k race. The College Gold race featured the finest teams attending among the 150+ squads present. The event was filled with Power Four teams, regional rivals, and Patriot League foes. Bucknell delivered against such difficult competition by placing 20th and the third-highest Patriot League school behind Army and Boston. Navy, like at the PSU Spiked Shoe Invitational, finished one spot behind Bucknell.Â

Donner's DebriefingÂ
"Honestly, our women looked a bit tired today. We got out nice over the first mile which was an area we wanted to work on but we did lose points between the first mile and second mile. Seems like many of our women regained their rhythm from two miles to 6k and we passed plenty of people especially Policano who passed 71 runners. We have been training hard the past 2-3 weeks which can sometimes impact the legs but we did muscle our way through this race for a semi respectable team place. A couple more sharpening type workouts and we will be ready for postseason racing."
Bucknell used a late race push by its runners to fly up five spots in the standings. The final drive demonstrates the value of the tough endurance training used by the Orange & Blue during its bye weeks.Â
Caryn Rippey's junior year has been one resounding success after another and she continued the trend at the Paul Short Run. Her time of 21:10.5 netted 71st in the crowded field. Rippey moved up 47 spots during the race.Â
Captain Sarah Policano shined in the late stages moving up 74 spots --- the highest amount by a Bison runner to finish 126th. She recorded a time of 21:38.5.
Freshman Shaelyn McNally slightly faded late in the race dropping 21 spots to 142nd but the rookie runner still recorded a solid time of 21:44.9. It is a great result considering the harshness of the course towards young runners.Â
Sophomore Kailey Granger finished 152nd, narrowly missing inclusion in the top 150. Her mark of 21:59.4 missed the top 150 by less than a second.Â
Fellow sophomore Meghan Rentner placed 0.03 seconds off Granger's time at 21.59.7, earning 154th. She rounded out the Bison scoring effort.Â
