LEWISBURG, PA - Bucknell men's water polo will stay at Kinney Natatorium for the second consecutive weekend, facing Mercyhurst in a Sunday afternoon matchup.

The Bison last weekend competed at home in the 2024 Bucknell Invitational, going 3-1 over the weekend notching wins against Mount St. Mary's (18-13), McKendree (17-11), and Wagner (13-12) before dropping a game to No. 9 Fordham (20-9).

Bucknell holds a 5-6 overall record for the season, with all six defeats coming at the hands of ranked opponents.

Freshman Tyler Hedblad, Bucknell's leading scorer with 18 goals entering the matchup against Mount St. Mary's, led the Bison with four goals. Sean Tunnicliff added three, while Matt Ryckman, Aleksa Stefanovic, Jack Dillane, and Shay Gillearn each contributed two. Matteo Herrera delivered a strong performance in goal to help secure the win.

Aleksa Stefanovic led the Bison with seven goals across the Fordham and McKendree games, with his six-goal performance against McKendree playing a key role in the victory. Shay Gillearn added five goals, serving as Stefanovic's main scoring partner.

Bucknell last faced Mercyhurst in 2022 in Erie, Pennsylvania, where the Bison cruised to a commanding 23-5 victory. Bucknell scored a season-best 23 goals in overpowering Mercyhurst, outscoring the Lakers 12-3 in the first half of play in cruising to a comfortable victory in the matchup. The Bison continued in the third, scoring seven times in the period before adding four more goals in the fourth to account for the most goals by the squad since a 23-14 win against Johns Hopkins on October 12, 2019.Â
Mercyhurst is coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Erie Invitational droppping its first contest to Connecticut College(16-15) before winning games against Washington and Jefferson (12-7), Wheaton College (27-9), and Penn State Behrend (20-12).Â
