IRVING, Texas – Bucknell football's Brad Jamison was one of 203 college football players to be named a semifinalist for the 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy®, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced Wednesday. It's the 19th consecutive year Bucknell has had a semifinalist for the prestigious award.
The William V. Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the country for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Each semifinalist is nominated by their school as the best all-around student-athlete on their respective football teams. Each nominee must be a senior who will compete his final year during the 2024 season and must have a grade-point average of at least 3.2, have outstanding football ability, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
Jamison, who has started 13 of Bucknell's last 14 games at Mike linebacker, has proven to be one of the top defensive players in the Patriot League and has excelled in the classroom as a mechanical engineering major, maintaining Dean's List status throughout his four years. The Upper Township, N.J. native was voted a team captain by his peers this season, and he's also displayed leadership as a two-year member of Bucknell Athletics' Leadership Institute.
A 2023 All-Patriot League selection, Jamison ranked sixth in the league with 77 tackles in 2023, including 39 solo stops and 5.5 tackles for loss. He registered three sacks, an interception and four passes defended, and he was the recipient of Bucknell's Clarke Hinkle Award as the team's most outstanding linebacker or defensive back. He has already added two sacks this season and is up to 134 career tackles.
The 203 William V. Campbell semifinalists this year are a record number for the 35-year-old award. Only Bucknell and Dayton have had a Campbell Trophy semifinalist each of the past 19 years.
