Lily Neilson Wins Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Bison of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Lily Neilson scored all three goals for Bucknell Field Hockey, as the Bison defeated Boston University 2-1 and gave #20 Penn State a battle before falling 2-1 in overtime. Her scoring output earned the senior forward both Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Bison of the Week.
The striker's role in the 2-1 victory over Boston was pivotal, delivering Bucknell's first home win over the Terriers since 2014. Her first tally opened the scoring via a beautiful bob-and-weave through the heart of Boston's defense.
Neilson has now won seven Patriot League Player of the Week awards. She won one in 2021, one in 2022, four in 2023, and collected one so far this campaign. The forward is three away from tying the PL record of ten held by Deanna DiCroce (Lafayette).
It is Neilson's first Bison of the Week since Sept. 26, 2021. She won back-to-back Bison of the Week awards on Sept. 19 and 26. It is also field hockey's first Bison of the Week since Oct. 17, 2021.
Neilson and the field hockey team continue conference play this weekend at Holy Cross for a Saturday showdown on Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.

Boston tied the game to force overtime but Neilson rose to the occasion as befitting a two-time reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and delivered a sizzling shot off a penalty corner for the dramatic overtime win.Bucknell's score was sweet!

Neilson entered 2024 with 42 career goals, the third-highest total in Bucknell history, and after this weekend, she sits at 47, one tally away from a tie for second place. She ranks third in career points with 99, moving past Amanda Faust's 92.LILY!!!!!
