Men’s Tennis Continues Strong Play in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Four Bucknell men's tennis players combined to go 4-0 in singles and 3-1 in doubles on Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Brendan McDonald, Felix Steindl, Nelson Alapi, and Shiv Singh all won their singles matches, and Alapi and Singh also went 2-0 in doubles as the Bison squared off against competitors from Carnegie Mellon and Edinboro.
McDonald, Alapi, and Singh all won in straight sets against opponents from Edinboro, led by a 6-0, 6-2 win from McDonald over Mathis Amsellam. Steindl was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Gerardo Garrido, and Singh defeated Thomas Buchard 6-4, 6-3. Alapi came from behind to beat William Wang of CMU 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
In doubles, Alapi and Singh won both of their Saturday matches by 6-2 counts. McDonald and Steindl dropped their first match of the day 6-3 to Carnegie Mellon before coming back to down another CMU pair in a tiebreaker.
The tournament wraps up on Sunday with one more round of singles and doubles.
