About the Bison
- Bucknell heads to Annapolis this weekend for its second tournament of the fall. The Bison are one of 15 teams in a challenging field that also includes Patriot League rivals Navy, Colgate, Lafayette, and Loyola.
- The Bison debuted at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Colgate three weeks ago and finished in a tie for sixth place out of 15 teams. Bucknell posted rounds of 298-290, and sophomore Hayden Quinn enjoyed the best tournament of his young career with two under-par rounds. Quinn shot 71-70 for a 3-under 141 and finished alone in fifth place.
- Quinn will take on the No. 1 spot in the lineup at Navy this weekend, along with Michael Rudnick, Jack Hartman, Patrick Pritsios, and James Robbins.
- The freshman Pritsios (77-73) and Hartman (78-75) both made their collegiate debuts at Colgate. Hartman is a second-generation Bison golfer, as his father Josh was a two-time All-Patriot League honoree and a two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year while playing for coach Tommy Thompson from 1994-98.
- Rudnick won the team's 54-hole preseason qualifier with rounds of 73-66-69 for a 2-under-par total of 208. Hartman finished three shots back at 211 (70-70-71), while James Key (73-74-67) and Quinn (69-75-70) tied for third at 214.
- Rudnick (75.2), Key (75.3), and Robbins (75.5) bring the lowest 2023-24 scoring averages among returning players.
- Bucknell has played in numerous invitational and conference championship events at the Naval Academy Golf Club through the years, although no current Bison has played in a college tournament there.
- Bucknell's last appearance at USNA GC was the 2021 Patriot League Championship. The Bison finished fourth that year with team scores of 300-311-304.
- The team's last visit to Navy for one of its regular-season events came in April 2017 for the Midshipmen's spring invitational. The Bison finished 11th that week with rounds of 312-315.
- Bucknell's fondest moment at Navy's course came in 2006, when the Bison captured the Patriot League championship there, with Charlie Waddell claiming the individual title.
- Bucknell's only Navy Invitational champion was Dave Richards in 1980. J.P. Raftery's 4-under 67 at the 2016 Patriot League championship is the lowest round ever recorded by a Bison on the course, and the team's 290 that day was also Bucknell's best-ever team score at Navy.
- The third of Bucknell's five fall tournaments will be the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Mystic Rock Resort. West Virginia is the host.
- Bucknell's fall slate culminates with the Bucknell Invitational Oct. 13-15, and the Bison will also host the 2025 Patriot League Championship next April 25-27.
